In an exceptional project in the community of Leshem, the community sought to incorporate values of Zionism, faith, and local identity into the Aron hakodesh.
The design of the Aron is innovative in the artistic language it brings – a combination of organic lines, topography, and a powerful presence in the space.
The layers of wood sliding upwards create an abstract menorah shape at the top, and the entire effect is enhanced by lighting that highlights the depth of the material and its form.
The letters were specially designed by the artist David Goldstein to optimally fit the form of the Aron hakodesh and the spirit of the community.
The complex includes two synagogues – a spacious central hall and an additional, smaller, more intimate Sephardic synagogue – both designed in the same harmonious visual language, tailored to different needs.
The result – a visual space that is both exciting and innovative, reflecting the spirit of the community and the face of contemporary yishuv.
